On the evening of January 10th, 2023, a very special event happened in Kaohsiung. From the middle afternoon, thousands of people began to arrive in an area across the street from the Dream Mall. By about 7pm, some 26,000 people were there for a historic dinner party that was hosted by a Singapore-headquartered company: RIWAY. Out of the 26,000 attendees, about 7,000 came from Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, with the remaining people coming from around Taiwan. In each of the 15 years since RIWAY was established, they have put on a celebration dinner.
AmCham Southern Taiwan is honored to have been chosen as consultant and co-organizer for this event. Representatives from so many of Kaohsiung City’s departments, such as transportation, tourism, the police and fire departments, tourism and more worked together with AmCham and RIWAY to ensure that everything was well-prepared. 10 of Kaohsiung’s first class hotels worked together to cater the dinner and provide the dinner services.
AmCham Southern Taiwan is so please to say that the evening went extremely well, and a good time was had by all. As this event will hopefully highlight Kaohsiung as a city that can handle large-scale events, and AmCham is ready to support these projects by working with the principles to help ensure a successful event. We hope that this event will also serve to provide a much needed “shot in the arm” to the tourism industry for southern Taiwan.
2023 will be a very important year for AmCham Southern Taiwan, and we have a number of interesting projects and events that are being planned.
